Primary 1 Measure!

We have been learning about tall and short/big and small in measure. Everyone in the class arranged themselves in height order in the playground. Afterwards we made tall and short beanstalks from play dough for Fairyland. We then measured our beanstalks using cubes. The longest beanstalk belonged to Paula at a staggering 39 cubes long! We drew pictures of our beanstalks in our maths diary afterwards.
Mason is the tallest in the class and Lilly is the smallest.

Dragon Visit!

Primary 1 were very excited this morning to discover a glitter trail in their classroom after playtime! The trail led to a letter from the Friendly Dragon asking for our help. We decided we would help all the Fairyland creatures by building Fairyland in our classroom. We drew pictures and wrote sentences on our whiteboards about how we wanted to help the dragon. Then in the afternoon we read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and we decided to create our own beanstalk with leaves and magic beans!

 The Friendly Dragons glitter trail!

Leon drew a castle for the dragon to live in.
Lacie wrote a sentence about what the dragon did- " The dragon dropped glitter".

Rory drew a picture of what he thought the friendly dragon might look like.
Millie drew a picture of what she thinks the friendly dragon looks like.

James has drawn a massive castle for the dragon to live in.

The boys and girls loved listening to the story!

Millie is designing some magical beans.
Ava and Lacey get to work painting the beanstalk!
Holly and Ava design the leaves for the beanstalk using tissue paper.

Going To The Shops!

P1 each designed their very own shop as part of our Money topic in Big Maths. We took it in turns being the customer and then the shop keeper. We tried hard to use the correct coins to buy items from each of the shops.

We had to think carefully about which coins to use to pay with!

Joan Miro Line Drawings

Primary One have been learning about the Spanish artist- Joan Miro. Before starting our artwork in the style of Miro, we decided to go outside with chalk to practice our straight, wavy and zig zag lines. These feature heavily in a lot of Miro's very famous work!

Karate Taster

We had a brilliant time at our Karate taster session!

Spanish

As part of our new topic, Primary 1 are learning to say and respond to a range of Spanish words and phrases. We were very lucky to have a special visitor to the class called Junior who helped us with this. We played games, sang songs, asked questions.... all in Spanish! We had a wonderful afternoon! Adios!

We tried to guess the time on Ria's clock using Spanish numbers.

Sonic helped us to learn the names of different colours in Spanish.
