Paired reading with P6/7

Primary 6/7 came down to visit today. The children drank milk and read fairy tales together. 

Building the castle and creating a dragon!

We received ANOTHER letter from the dragon. This time the dragon needed our help to build him a castle. Primary 1 got straight to work!

 We painted bricks for the castle.

 Then we decided to create our own dragon for the classroom using paint and glitter.

 It got a little messy...

But we had LOTS of fun!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears- Big Maths

For Big Maths this week, Primary 1 focused on the fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears which is our fairy tale for this week. 

 We started off by ordering the three bears by size into the correct sized chairs.  

 We used different sized bowls to make to make porridge for the three bears, thinking about how many spoonfuls each bear would need.

 Reece counted each spoonful of porridge very carefully for each of the three bears.

 We used play dough to design new furniture for the three bears, making sure the furniture fitted each bear.

 Then we had to match the correct furniture to the correct bear, thinking about size.

Doubles

Primary 1 have been learning about doubles this week. We used mirrors and play dough to help us create doubles.

 Leon made sure both of his cube towers were exactly the same height.
